Is this a private chef service? No. This is a cooking experience where everyone participates. I provide the recipes and instructions and guests are assigned a course based upon their desire and skill level.
What amount of skill should participants have? This experience is designed for people who have never picked up a kitchen knife to someone who can create a few basic meals but would like to learn how to elevate dishes to impress their friends and family – and themselves!
Where does this happen? Guests and I come to your home. Since all courses are being prepped simultaneously it helps if you have a large enough cooking area where guests have personal space to create their dish. Gas stovetops are also optimal.
How many people can participate? It’s most efficient to have a minimum of five people with a maximum of eight. Please include yourself in that count. The number of courses may vary depending upon the number of participants.
How long does this take? You should plan on up to three hours. The purpose of this experience is to have fun in a relaxing and no-pressure environment. Hopefully, everyone will learn something new and leave with the confidence to recreate dishes at home. Please note that it is imperative that EVERYONE arrives at the start time, otherwise the order of courses might be delayed or sadly need to be omitted from the evening.
Who buys the ingredients? I purchase and arrive with all the ingredients.
What equipment is needed? During our consultation, I’ll inquire which of the necessary tools you already have. However, I am prepared to bring everything – knives, cutting boards, mixers, baking dishes, skillets, pans…everything – to your home.
Can menus be modified? We can make select changes based upon preferences and dietary restrictions. Restrictions and allergies must be disclosed before ingredients are purchased. At this time, no meals can be made entirely vegetarian or vegan.
Who provides the dinnerware, cutlery, and glassware? It is greatly appreciated if the host can supply everything needed to dine. If there is a dish best enjoyed in a special vessel, I can bring it.
What is your service area? Up to 25-30 miles from Washington, DC. If you’re outside of that radius, let’s talk.
Who helps clean up? I can handle cleanup, but participation is always appreciated. 🙂 The goal though is for you to enjoy the company and the dishes you’ve prepared.
